An extra post, here, to share the joy of gathering in community, in honor of this harvest season. I’m feeling the abundance right now. And the gratitude.
For 10 years—10 years!—I’ve been leading Silent Hikes several times a year. What’s a Silent Hike, you ask? I explained it in a previous post.
Today was our Autumnal Equinox hike, which I hosted on my own land. Jim and I, with our intrepid trail-building co-conspirator, Cory Dodgens (Hi, Cory! and thanks!), spent much of the summer preparing a new trail through our woods and along our creek. Normally, the Silent Hike happens on a public trail in a state park, each time at a different venue.
So it was a delight to finally be able to host the Silent Hike at my place, and to tack on a potluck lunch afterwards … all to celebrate our decade of sharing this experience together.
Here’s the gang this morning, all 16 of them. (And you regular Silent Hikers who couldn’t join us? We missed you!) It was a morning of good friends, good food, and our good Mother Earth.
May you also enjoy the abundance and beauty of this season. It’s a harvest for the heart.
Lovely. My husband and I do lots of silent hikes together but whenever friends join us there’s always a natterer! I love the idea of specifically having a silent walk.
Good on you for hosting! That looks like a wonderful group of silent hikers, and a killer potluck. I'd love a bowl of whatever soup is in that crock.
