Roger Hammer, in his photos, appears to be overflowing with life and vitality. Thank you for this insight into his dedication to the area he lives in and loves. I am learning so much about the southeastern US, and I love it.
Aw, Paul ... big thanks! I do love shining a spotlight on folks (like you) who cherish our beautiful planet and do what they/you/we can to take care of it.
Growing up in wild Florida is a very special honor! As a south Florida native and a naturalist, I am shocked I never knew of Roger until now. I bet I have used his guidebooks and seen his work and not even known it. Thank you for showcasing an incredible human.
I first read about the concerns of overpopulation in my Weekly Reader in elementary school in the mid 1950's. Like Roger Hammer I took this concern seriously, quickly working out how fast the US population was growing and then the world population. Watching how fast humans have changed Washington state in my lifetime only confirms that humans are our biggest threat to the planet.
Enjoyed reading #24 Jeanne. I’ve never had the courage to wade waist deep in swamps the way Roger Hammer or Clyde Butcher have (although I have capsized a canoe in swamps a time or two - quickly scrambling to a shoreline and getting back inside).
What an inspirational figure is Roger Hammer!! Thank you for sharing!
You're so welcome, Samantha!

Thank you, Jenny! I love sharing this stuff, about good people, and so happy that it lands well with good people like you.
It’s a great place to be! There are so many people doing great work out there and you are shedding light on their amazing contributions.

You're welcome, Tricia!
What a fascinating read and person!
Thanks for being here, Paul!
I love Roger and treasure my time and interactions with him. How is it you and I don't know each other?
Ahhh, but we do!
I love this. Thank you for introducing him to us.
You're welcome, Susi!

Truth, Sandy. Truth!

I'm with you on that, Mark!
