Immersing myself in the natural world and its cycles has always been a way for me to reconnect and calm inner anxieties of whatever sort. Hooray for the reach of your work in Rx Nature!

You have always been a friend of nature, Lisa. A loving reciprocal relationship that inspires me ... and I'm sure many others, as well.

Congratulations Jeanne, for earning the first 1000 subscribers. That is a well deserved milestone not only for a Substack, but also for your peaceful mission that fills a need in our times.

Rx Nature helps to reinforce our understanding of nature's soothing power. To relieve stress. To clear our minds. To focus on what matters. To allay our fears. To heal trauma. To find our path ahead during uncertain times.

My soul was rattled by the recent election. I donned my hat, grabbed my cane and headed for the nearest forest trail. An hour out there, in the woods, calm eased its way into my troubled mind - we're going to be ok. It will take time. Perhaps more than this old coot has left on earth. And it will require a lot of work and tireless effort by a lot of people. Younger people who need you, Jeanne. But there will always be this: Truth will shine as sure as there will be warm hopeful sunrises and moonlight glowing through bright starlit skies.

We can learn from the universe and from life pushing through earth's fertile soil, exactly how it is that truth prevails over lies. If we join nature. Listen to it. Touch it. Feel it. Talk to it. Accept its guidance. We're going to be ok.

Beautiful thoughts, Mark. Thank you. I love your metaphor of life pushing through the soil. (Janisse would be proud!) I'm so glad that you have a close and enduring relationship with nature that cheers you.

1000 subscribers! That's great news! Nature, unlike people, never lets us down. It's the gift that keeps on giving.

Thank you for the reminder that nature is healing. I've been immersed in technology this last week, and it's no wonder that anger, sadness, and anxiety levels continue to increase. I just watched your Solace of Nature video, and I'm feeling inspired on so many levels - to breathe, to release, to touch the earth. I will be getting dressed appropriately for this cold, rainy, November day and heading outside to do all of those things. You are doing important work. Thank you.

Thank you so, so much -- for being here and for commenting, but also for doing yourself the favor of turning off the digital world and heading outside. I've found the "touching the earth" practice particularly helpful in these times. Sending you green blessings!

Go Jeanne! 1M subscribers in less than 2 years is certainly worth celebrating! And your Substack site is certainly worth celebrating! Think of all of the nature lovers you have introduced us to in just this past year. I have learned so much about what people who love nature are doing out there in the world! Great to know! I encourage you to continue doing such interviews of those knowledgeable nature lovers far and wide. Better you than me being a sounding board for those feeling discouraged and stressed-out. I would be likely to say, Hey read any good books lately?> Or, want to go for an ice cream cone? at all the wrong moments. So it is good that people have a better trained listener who can help them right their ship and sail on. Thanks for taking on that role! And love that picture of the fall leaves!!!

Aw, Sandy, such a nice note. Thank you, my dear! Please don't discount the value of a kind word and an ice cream cone. 😄 And ... "right their ship and sail on" ... I am SO going to remember that description of my work. You have given me a gift, there.

BTW - I enjoyed your interview of your neighbor who is also a nature writer. Certainly would find it hard to tear away from that view of her 'corner office'!!!!

If you like that ship phrase, I once did a cross stitch of two masted schoolers sailing in opposite directions out in a turbulent sea with these words of a start of a poem by Ella Wheeler Wilcox that goes - "One ship sails east, and one sails west on the self same winds that blow. T'is the set of the sails and not the gales that tells the way we go." That phrase has been a good reminder for me to think about the course I am setting for myself, even with the words that I speak. Sending you more strength and a big hug!

"The constancy of the natural world is simply amazing. The Earth adapts and perseveres. She withstands all kinds of storms. Six weeks ago, we who live in the Southeast witnessed the fierce, destructive power of a hurricane. It was shocking. But already the slow, quiet process of recovery has begun. And autumn is just as beautiful as ever.

"

This is one of the truest paragraphs I've read all week!

Thank you, Jeanne.

Thank you so much, my friend! That means a lot to hear that right now. I labored mightily over this post, trying to make it helpful but not political. Even so, I had some "unsubscribes." Luckily, only a handful.

Congratulations! Well deserved.

Of course, I'm in total agreement with the healing power of Nature. We will need it now more than ever and the beautiful thing is that Nature will have even more to give if we only look and ask.

I missed your video when you first released it. Very powerful. Your voice is soothing to the soul and spirit. Thank you!
